FAQ

WHAT TO EXPECT IF?:

You are searching for someone

An investigator will speak with you as to why you are searching for the individual.  The conversation may take place in person or over the phone.  If  we take the case, a contract of terms will be signed by you, as to your understanding of the expectations of both parties (you and Fortified Investigative Services).  A retainer will be provided before services begin.  In most cases the retainer will be in the amount of $500.00.  If the individual is found they will be contacted by the investigator. Upon contact they will be provided with your contact information.  You will be updated as to the status of the investigation.  Please note that there is no guarantee that the individual will be located or whether they will contact you after being located.

There will be no refunds on this service.  If the investigator determines it is not possible to locate the individual, the remaining unused funds will be paid to the client (you).

Do I need a private investigator?

If you have come to the decision that you need a private investigator you most likely do.  You are looking for information that the average internet search will not provide.  If you are seeking help with infidelity in a marriage or a child custody case, please consult an attorney before seeking a private investigator’s services.

How do I choose a private investigator?

Choosing the right private investigator can be a pretty tricky decision.  You may have to make a decision based on cost, availability, and what the private investigator specializes in.  Recommendations from an attorney or someone that has used the services of a specific private investigator would be a great place to start your search.  Trusting the private investigator that is working for you is one of the most important things to consider.  Check with your states local private investigator association.  In Washington State WALI  (Washington Association of Legal Investigators) would be a great place to find a private investigator for your needs.  This association can be located at http://www.wali.org/

DON’T—Choose a private investigator from a Craig’s List ad or just because he is the first name you see on a Google search.  Do your homework and interview the individual.  And if he is a good private investigator he will interview you too.  He or she will need to determine whether they can actually help you.

How much does a Private Investigator cost?

Depending on what you need, the total cost might not be very much at all.  The cost of obtaining the services of a Private Investigator may cost anywhere from $45 an hour to $125 an hour.  Most private investigators charge appropriately for their services based off their experience. A good private investigator charging $125 dollars may take less time to complete the assignment than someone charging $45 an hour.  But just because someone charges more doesn’t mean they are better, it is just something else to consider.

Most private investigation agencies will require a retainer.  This is both good for you and the private investigator.  You will be able to know what you are spending and the private investigator will know that he is getting paid for investigative efforts.
